​Profile

Makiko’s yoga journey started in 2008 while living in Tokyo and struggling as a new mom while looking for a work life balance and raising a new born. She loved her transformation not just physically but mentally through regular yoga practice. Also enjoyed a sense of finding a sense of being part of a "community" and belonging. 

 

Moved to California with her family in 2016. Yoga has greatly supported her family and herself to integrate in a new environment while embracing new life challenges. She has been practicing and continuing her study not just in CA but also internationally, to extend her love of yoga and make it available to youths, adults and the elderly to help diverse people discover the benefits of yoga in many different ways. Also trained in fall prevention and chronic disease self-management, Makiko’s understanding in these areas should provide great value to broader application of the yoga practice.

 

Recently she has developed a strong passion for promoting self-care and building a holistic lifestyle including essential oils , sound healing as well as therapeutic art for their preventive and healing properties.  Completed the Holistic Health and Wellness Coach training and Yoga Life Coach training as well as Therapeutic Art Life Coach training to help support people build their own wellness for life.

In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, wine, hiking and exploring nature.

"I have fear. I get anxious and nervous. I am shy. I am vulnerable and there are a lot of things that I don't agree with. But it's all ok because,

I am curious. I am a little girl who always loves to wander like wind.

I practice yoga to ground, to get comfortable with discomfort and connect back with my nature.

 

As long as you let your senses speak, you know when you need to come back HOME so you can travel as far. Trust your "SELF".
